CONSERVATION

The Rainforest is Our Responsibility

Conserving Belizean biodiversity with a focus on flora, fauna, and the ecosystem at large.

BFREE is a leader in conserving the Hicatee species in Belize, focusing on research, policy, and an educational outreach and awareness campaign that has reached hundreds of classrooms and thousands of people.

Growing wild at BFREE is one of the few 100% wild pure Criollo cacaos known to exist. This discovery propelled the need to restore and rebuild the tropical forest growing conditions preferred by cacao.

BFREE park rangers patrol the 1,153-acre property and its boundaries 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Rangers document wildlife and weather patterns as part of our long-term monitoring programs.
